Mklen International Started Operations in 2001 in Tananarivo, Madagascar. Over a three year period it went through rapid expansion to reach its current level of operations, which consists of one jeans factory with 12 production lines and a casual bottoms factory with 6 production lines. Combined, both factories now produce 120,000 garments per week, and employ over 3,000 people.
The facilities are equipped with a new, state-of-the-art laundry capable of washing up to 25,000 garments per day of all types, including stone washing, bleaching and tints. A full- floor dry process center caters for all type of dry applications including hand sanding, sand blasting, whiskers, grinding, tacking, destruction and Potassium spraying. A chemical-based treatment plant that treats, filters and recycles water from the laundry has been erected in 2002 at cost of nearly $1 million, and conforms to local and international environmental standards.
The factory is equipped with all latest machinery: Automatic pockets setters; Automatic belt loop setters; Automatic back pockets hemming; Programmable decorative stitch machines; Eight computerized embroidery machines with 22 heads, 9 colors each, and many others.
Mklen International is the latest investment of the Jordache Corporation in Manufacturing, built with the philosophy of producing sustainable, high quality garments achieved through a combination of technical and managerial expertise along with the best equipment available.
Madagascar enjoys duty-free treatment for products shipped to the US under the AGOA treaty.
